The International Association of Public Transport (UITP) has announced that Mariana Mazzucato, economist and influential thinker on innovation, is set to captivate audiences as the keynote speaker at the upcoming UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Barcelona, held from 4 June to 7 June 2023.
Recognised globally for her extensive work on technological change and the role of the public sector in driving innovation, Mazzucato has played a pivotal role in shaping high-level policies worldwide. Her ideas and expertise have reached a wide audience through various international outlets, both in print and on broadcast platforms. As an advisor, author and professor, Mazzucato has devoted her career to turning economic theories into actionable policies that promote inclusive and sustainable growth.
The UITP Global Summit gathers influential figures in the sector to discuss and define the future of public transport. Mazzucato’s role as a conversation starter and thought leader aligns with the summit’s mission to drive the direction of the transportation industry.
As a professor at University College London (UCL), Mazzucato teaches the Economics of Innovation and Public Value. She is also the founding director of the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose.
