Favorite tactical prescription glasses of 2021

As experts in safety eyewear, we know a thing or two about eyewear that meets the toughest industry standards.

In fact, in this article, we’ll be naming some of our favorite tactical prescription glasses of the current year. We’ll also be highlighting the key differences between military glasses and safety eyewear.

So hang tight. We’ve gathered the information so you can be worry free. Because finding the best tactical glasses doesn’t have to be a challenge–at least, not on our watch.

Military vs. Standard Eyewear

It’s important when looking for military glasses to know how to identify them. Military glasses have more rigorous standards than safety glasses, and understandably so. While safety glasses work to protect your eyes in industrial and personal settings, for instance, military glasses are worn to prevent tougher levels of impact.

Let’s dive a bit deeper.

The American National Standard Institute (or ANSI) creates standard guidelines for the products and equipment on the US market. Many safety glasses carry the ANSI classification Z87+ which indicate the toughest safety features for occupational eyewear protection. More specifically, standards such as ANSI Z87.1 are high impact safety ratings, protecting the wearer from hazards at work or at home.

Industry standards are more stringent for military standards. That’s why you have the MIL-PRF-32432 ballistic military safety rating. Gaining this classification means going through the ballistic fragmentation test where projectiles collide with glasses at extremely high speeds, ensuring they stay completely in tack. So, while military glasses can be ANSI approved, they are not interchangeable with safety glasses.

Ensuring that your glasses meet these high standards will keep you protected and safe while doing the toughest jobs.
